Singing

Singing is for everyone! Everybody has a voice and everybody can sing!

It's time to sing out and find your voice!

Singing is an integral part of musical theatre. In the early days of the musical (as it is in opera), the ‘song’ was a break from the storytelling of the libretto, however, as the musical has evolved, the ‘song’ is now an integral part of the plot and ‘moves the story along’. Consequently, the melody and the lyrics are equally as important in the delivery.

Most musical theatre is an extension of your speaking voice. In musical theatre, every note you sing must portray an emotional content which reflects the mood of the song at that point.

Singing

Singing makes you feel better! There is an increasing amount of evidence that singing releases endorphins, serotonin and dopamine _ the “happy” chemicals that boost your mood and make you feel good about yourself!

Singing enhances lung function! It increases your lung capacity engaging muscles around the rib cage.
Singing helps improve your memory! It can help improve mental alertness, memory and concentration.
Singing boosts your confidence! The good news is, it doesn't matter whether you think you can sing in tune or not - the health benefits will be the same.
